About Swim LA
Swim LA’s philosophy is to develop and help swimmers learn the life skill of swimming in a fun, efficient way. Our curriculum allows swimmers to develop water safety and water awareness skills in order to provide a foundation for a lifetime of fun, confident swimming.
Hi everyone,
My name is Delsy Vascones (Swim Instructor/Lifeguard & Founder) of Swim LA. I have been teaching swimming lessons to babies, kids, adults, and special needs of all skill levels for 10 years now, as well as lifeguarding. I have been a lover of water all of my life! Since I was 3 years old I have been taking swimming lessons. Growing up throughout high school and college I have participated in swim teams, water polo, synchronized swim & diving teams. My passion for teaching survival skills came when I took an American Red Cross class that included a Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor course that I found to be fascinating. After completing both courses I noticed I had a passion to teach that led a part-time job into a career. After graduating with a Bachelors of Nutritional Sciences, I connected my passion for teaching with one of my goals in life which is to reduce childhood obesity. Many don’t know but being in the water & swimming is a great physical exercise with minimal injury. This will help many children stay active, strengthen muscles, maintain balance, and improve posture. My mission is to teach water survival skills to prevent as many drownings as possible.
